Sergei Isupov is best known for his human-like ceramic sculptures. The figure in this piece is representative of the figures found in his three-dimensional work. The Man depicts a single nude male with a somber expression; in what appears to be a deserted scene. Isupov’s use of cross-contour lines gives structure and complexity to his minimalistic composition.
