Factors Controlling Elevated Lead Concentrations in Water Samples from Aquifer Systems in Florida

Download pdf | Full Screen View

Date Issued:
1999
Summary:
This report presents results of detailed statistical analyses of total and dissolved lead concentrations in water samples collected from major aquifer systems in Florida for the Florida Ground Water Quality Monitoring Network to determine the influence of anthropogenic factors on elevated lead concentrations. In addition, lead isotopic data are presented for water samples collected from a subset of 13 wells in the monitoring network, samples of aquifer material, rainfall, and lead counterweights. The lead-isotope data provide a better understanding of the relative contributions of anthropogenic and natural sources of lead in ground water samples from Florida's major aquifer systems.
